District 7 Race: Clifford Gilmore vs Larry Reid

This is East Oakland we're talking about here. The place in the 1980s where a top drug dealer had a Rolls Royce and Horse-drawn coffin funeral procession and all the kids ever since are crazy about it.

So we have Larry "things have improved" Reid vs newcomer Clifford Gilmore. Can someone tell us if Clifford is related to City Councilman at the time Carter Gilmore, in the above video clip?

Here's the SF Chronicle's article about the two candidates.

District 7 incumbent faces newcomer

Who would you choose?

Yes, Clifford Gilmore is the son of former city councilman Carter Gilmore. Clifford is running against the incumbent/loser Larry Reid.

Clifford Gilmore is the son of Carter Gilmore, the first African American elected to the Oakland City Council. Carter was a true representative of the people in East Oakland, and Clifford will be the same. Unlike Reid, who is interested in being a developer, and lining his pockets with their money.
12 years of Reid is enough. Let's give Clifford a chance to really improve the quality of life in E. Oak.

I am proud to say this..yes..Clifford Gilmore is the son of the late-great Carter Gilmore. I am even MORE elated to say that in my Uncle Clifford..I do see a lot of the drive and ambition and the desire to change the direction of a community that has been led (for far too long) by a man who's priority is not and has not been his community..A Hmm..Mr. Ried..At the beginning of this campaign I was a bit skeptic..Yet I have seen exactly what kind of City Councilman and Committed Community Leader that Clifford Gilmore can and will be. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and in this case with Clifford Gilmore being the son of a man who was a hero and legendary man..it's a good thing!
